Poker Strategy

Poker has become not only one of the most popular table games at the casinos, but with people worldwide. The emergence of Texas Hold ‘em has become a new craze in card games Texas Hold ‘Em is a game where each player receives 2 cards, and there are 5 community cards on the table. Because there are so many community cards, Texas Hold ‘Em allows people to create some sort of poker strategy. Texas Hold ‘Em’s popularity grew when the World Series of Poker tournament, which is for both amateurs and professional poker players, was nationally televised.

There are other types of poker that are being played at casinos. Those games include:

• Five Card Draw - Each player is dealt 5 cards, and is able to discard and replace their cards once in the game in hopes of getting a better hand.
• Stud Poker - This game can be played with each player receiving 5 or 7 cards. The cards are dealt both face down and face up. This type of dealing gives each opposing a player an idea as to everyone else’s hand but still leaves the mystery of the face down cards.
• Omaha - Omaha is a game similar to Texas Hold ‘em. Each player is dealt 4 cards and 5 community cards. The players must make the best hand using only two of the four cards they were dealt, plus three of the five community cards.

In today’s society, poker is an extremely popular hobby among people of all age groups. Poker is a game that not only is being played in casinos, but in the home. People are organizing friendly games at their house, and even playing online against others, opponents who are possibly halfway around the world.
